I have such a soft spot for any book placed in N’awlins. I think my fascination actually began when I was an early teen reading historical romances based in early New Orleans. Ever since I’ve just been attracted to all stories set in the Big Easy. It doesn’t matter much to me what that genre of that story might be, it’s enough for me to hear things like Bourbon St. and Jackson Square oysters and beignets–I’m hooked. The setting of Residue might have been the initial appeal but this modern day Hatfields and McCoys quickly checked my head and sucked me in.

I am wilting fast and I am so determined to get two Monday reviews written today. I have this schedule that I want to stick to this week because blog life has begun to get a little bit crazy. And my real life hero raids (he’s a wicked gamer) during the evenings and I have some time before impending body failure happens tonight and I am really praying to push through while I can. I somehow managed to over ARC my Ellora’s Cave book requests. I requested a book, Widow’s Walk by Genevieve Ash, which then missed getting transferred to my Kindle and I’m behind a book. So I’m going to have to fix this before Haunting Blackie by Laurann Dohner comes out and I have erotic book back up. That sounds like some sort of unpleasant, icky medical condition, it’s something I really need to take care of.

Character Q&A – The Dirt on Jack Hunter
I received an anonymous email this morning from someone claiming to have the deets on one Jack Hunter and the mystery as to why Miss Isis Blake remains MIA sans the obit after he was alleged to have left her crib only a couple days gone-by, in a hail of bullets and blaze of glory. This maven of information claims that despite Jack’s snark and bitter coldness his eternal ennui he couldn’t hide his ragin’ distress at the thought of the bitchy Blake being on the sad end of social media scandal. A quote:
“Wow, for someone so eager to deny a love-child, and claim his “nemesis” a harpy, the guy seemed pretty torn up over some titty pics and suspect sluttery. Isn’t it strange how love and war always seems to end in even the most notorious losing all sense of conviction.”
