Weekend Pick Me Up – Lost In Me by Lexi Ryan

Lost In Me - Lexi RyanI have been trying very hard to overcome the habit of making quick judgements that my mother instilled in me as a child for sometime. Still, I find they bite me on the patootie and I often have times when I read that I get an impression and think I’ve figured out everything on that first thought and think I can stop there. It takes me a nudge to remember all the times I have made the promise that I wouldn’t be like my mom in quick painting all things black and white before I pull my big girl pants on and step beyond my bull crap. This is how I learned Lost In Me was not The Vow.

Hannah Fisher has become the main character in her own personal mystery. When she wakes up in the hospital with amnesia she learns that the last eleven months of her life has disappeared, with them is her entire relationship with Max Holwell–her dream man from the dawn of the Universe; as well as her relationship with Max is her relationship with Nate–the man who seems to glaze her donut. Not having the puzzle pieces of the past almost year, Hannah relies on what she believes what would have happened when her dreams came true, only to find that she had rather crap dreams. Max might be an attentive and try-hard fiance but he and her mother keep pushing her toward a ball and chain event that she is reluctant to commit to when she isn’t sure what she is missing. She isn’t even part of the planning or excitement. Max and her mom are doing so well with all the dealings that you’d think they were the ones getting hitched.

And then there is Nate Crane…

As the missing parts of her history with the tattooed rock star begin to fall into place, Hannah fears that she isn’t the person she believed herself to be. Fearful that she was unfaithful to Max and getting the hot beef injection with the mouth watering Nate, whom she still is deeply attracted to, Hannah is more compelled than ever to pull together the loose ends of the last eleven months of her past. When the revelations come, the dust clears; Hannah realizes that she would rather have the chance at a few stolen moments at something that will never work than forever with someone she would have to share.

By the end of the story I was hungry for the next book, Falling to You; I am waiting impatiently for it’s June release. I think the most frustrating thing of the novel is that you never actually find out how Hannah ended up taking the fall that landed her in the hospital and if she truly was a victim of someone roughing her up. I know I had someone picked out in my mind as the suspect but when it was never addressed I had a bit of GRRR and wobbly.

Add the, “Was Hannah assaulted?” cliffhanger with the end of the book cliffhanger and you have nail biting, on the edge of your seat anticipation. Lexi Ryan just got herself scratched off my Christmas Card List for being such a terrible tease.

I recommend Until November by Aurora Rose Reynolds, Shattered Hearts by Nicole Banks and Free Fall by Tess Oliver if you like Lost In Me.
