This rom-com novel is written by this Weekly Indie Word Slinger–CeCe Osgood. The Divorced Not Dead Workshop is a humorous and insightful look at the weary world of the divorced yet hopeful heart. Considering that 50% of marriages in America end in the marriage crapper this book is not only relevant but more than likely easily relatable for many. If only more of us were inspired by alcohol to have ideas for workshops to de-suckify men instead of keying their cars and slinging eggs at their houses. I guess this is what separate the women from the girls doing community service–of course I’ve never hid from an ex under a table at the market, Ms. Bing.
Weekly Indie Word Slinger – CeCe Osgood
This week’s Word Slinger is CeCe Osgood, a woman who won herself a very special spot in my heart when she called me “MOE” in an email: Mighty Online Empress. Tell me that shouldn’t go to my head. She is the author of the insightfully comedic novel about the hated post stage of divorce–that state when all the other sex does is disappoint you, The Dead Not Divorced Workshop.
Makin’ The Love Monday – Untamed Hunger by Aubrey Ross
Why is it that Sunday burnt me the eff out? I read half of one book, did my emails, read all of another book, did the other Makin’ The Love review, did my homework for my Mysticism and Psychology class, made my schedule for the week and it’s 8pm and crap in a hat. I’m exhausted. And I want a foot rub!
I found this Untamed Hunger on Amazon when I was watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer with my husband and randomly inputting different things in the search fields. This popped up with “Sci-Fi Mating Romance“. I bought it because it had a naked man on the front and it was a book about kittens. I’m a simple woman. I know what I like.
Makin’ The Love Monday – Haunting Blackie by Laurann Dohner
Why didn’t I think of this first?! I think Laurann totally snuck a sly one in here. I’m not even going to sing and dance an intro to this book, y’all are getting the meat straight off the bone!
Laurann Dohner is one awfully naughty woman. I would even have my Species mate, Brass, spank her for what she has done with Haunting Blackie–but I’m convinced she totally would consider that a reward!
Book It – In News Today: Tijan Reveals Cover of Sustain with First Two Chapters
Tijan’s picks up the story of the band Braille, now known as Sustain, who caught everyone’s attention in earlier Broken & Screwed Series books. Brielle Masterson will be familiar to you as the bartender from The Shack, the dive bar where Jesse brought Alex to hangout and where she met the guys of Braille in Broken & Screwed 2. Now Sustain has found stardom and a return trip home to Grant West for a short break is a time for Brielle to see the guys she grew up with after a year away. Only looking at all the things that have changed, there are so many of the things that are still the same.
Book Boyfriend Report – Holding on Forever by Cecilia Robert
What is the old saying, “Puppy dog tails and coconut shells”?–No. That definitely sounds wrong. What are Keepers made of, dammit? I think the line I was remembering is an old Voodoo spell for how to keep your neighbor’s dog from regifting digested food on your lawn.
Liese knows what keepers are made of because Frey has passed the Friend Zone Line and scored more than a few points for Team ‘This Guy Is Mine’ since he had the spotlight in Truly, Madly, Deeply, You. And we can all take a deep breath because this Keepers keeper status has kept.
Tongue Wagger – Unintentional Virgin by A.J. Bennett
This is a book that I purchased a few months ago and began reading and then set aside because I felt it was very silly initially. For the month of January I put all of the books I had began reading and stopped for whatever assorted reasons, into my January TBR shelf to finish off. Surprisingly, I really loved this novel.
Makin’ The Love Monday – His Wicked Game by Ember Casey
I am wilting fast and I am so determined to get two Monday reviews written today. I have this schedule that I want to stick to this week because blog life has begun to get a little bit crazy. And my real life hero raids (he’s a wicked gamer) during the evenings and I have some time before impending body failure happens tonight and I am really praying to push through while I can. C’mon snake eyes. C’mon snake eyes.
Weekend Pick Me Up – The Daddy Pact by Kristy K. James
Ahhh weekends. They are like chocolate but less fattening. They are like the movie Grease but without the singing. Well, who am I to say that? Perhaps John Travolta serenades you all weekend long. If he doesn’t, maybe he should. Let me start this out right… Just. For. You.
Close your eyes (But keep them open). Imagine Danny Zuko’s voice (But really it would be me singing to you and I sing best when I sing in Korean). Ahem…
~~Why, this book could be systematic, hydromatic, ultramatic, why, it could be greased lightning!~~
Tongue Wagger – Grace Unexpected by Gale Martin
Do you need a hug? Is your pint of B&J’s bringing you closer to rock bottom rather than giving you loving comfort? Don’t cry in your Chunky Monkey. This is the perfect book to chase the blues away. Grace Unexpected by Gale Martin might just be one of the most smart and funniest books I’ve read in sometime. It’s chock-a-block with lighthearted wit that warm the cockles of your heart and maybe even leave you tittering out loud and claiming early incontinence.
