Release Date: 08 August 2019

Summary:

Nowhere is safe when the gods are wicked.

Since the beginning of times, there have always been two sides: Norms and Idols.

But never have the scales been so unbalanced as they are today.

I’m a Norm, which means, I grew up in fear of the Idols and their godly powers.

And now, I’m going to be surrounded by them, day and night. I’ve been offered a place at the prestigious Gifted Academy, an opportunity very few Norms get.

To survive, I must become invisible. But my hope to get through the academy unscathed goes down the drain when the most powerful boys in school set their eyes on me.

They hate me simply because I’m a Norm. If they knew who I truly am, they’d tear me apart limb by limb. But I’m done cowering away from Idols. It’s time for the Norms to fight back, and it all starts with me.

Alpha Hell is really damn good, so I didn’t do badly shopping by the cover.

When Lilith Thornblood’s life becomes quite the pickle, she escapes to the one place the man searching for her won’t look. His domain. The Stormfire Alpha’s territory is in Hell, and Lilith’s decision to hide in plain sight requires assistance.

Cue Caspian Hardling, part shifter, part fae–all babe with an attitude and a loathing for fools. His answer to her problem is the Demon Hunter Trials. And the rest is… well, the story; it’s the cash and prize if you will, so I won’t spoil you.

Oh, I had such a hard time with the heroine’s first name. I mean Mairin would not sound nice in my mind no matter how many times or how many accents I said it in, and in the end, I was okay with all the pet names given to her. Mai? Irin? Both better than put together.

Mairin Perdita is a foster wolf in her pack. The Ravensword Pack is a crap factory of tools except for a handful of wolves, and upon her mate reveal ceremony, she finds that it can only worsen. Soon she is forsaken by her true mate and sent to her death.

Good for you, Mairin, the Alpha is a right tosser, and he should have been given a whingy wolf for a mate. You were done well by the sea! Which delivers her to the Fall Mountain Pack. Into the hands of their four Alphas: Henderson, Silas, Ragnar, and Valentine.

Title: Saint (Saint and Sinners #1)
Author: Ruby Vincent
Genre: Dark Romance, Reverse Harem
My rating:
5 of 5 stars

First, let me say that my favorite book is Alice in Wonderland. Why does that matter? Because Sinjin Bellisario reminded me of the Mad Hatter and the Tea Party put together. The man is brilliant chaos, and I could eat him up.

Ruby Vincent’s Saint is a bit different from her academy books in that she’s taken a dark path, and I like it. Adeline Redgrave is a struggling chef trying to make it in a crap situation. She can barely make rent, much less pay for the care for her father. When she sees something she shouldn’t, it puts a crinkle in her life that she truly can’t afford.

Cinco City lives and breathes on the sin that feeds and fuels it. The Merchants are another gang who are making a stamp on the underworld until a Bunny witnesses them making a hit. But their leader is sheer wonky unpredictability, and he decides that she can live, but the caveat is she’s theirs.

OH, Goodness, woman, you kill me with these cliffhangers. YOU SLAY ME WITH THEM!

I don’t even know where to start. I can’t. My mind is blown.

Sabina’s very naughty mate, Kade, destroyed Shadow at the end of Submission, and now is the Alpha of Shadow pack meaning, he’s split Bean’s sub-pack. Bean starts this book fed up with all of them and needs some time with the women in her life. She tells the boys to figure out their sugar and has Artemis spirit her away to her cousins and Nessa. Thus we begin Seduction. A book in which snack foods are seriously threatened.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Earth is the first in the Elemental Reverse Harem Quartet, which promises to be a titillating new series by Helen J. Perry.

Malka Selby doesn’t know she’s a witch. The joke is more or less on her because all the men she encounters seems to know who and what she is. And the kinky menagé contest she’s having with her best friend to see who can have the most, the best, is getting lots of fodder as these men seem to make all her dreams come true.

ARGH! And not in a pirate way. I’m so frustrated. What I thought would happen when I read the cliffhanger of Surrender occurred, and I’m not happy about it. I hate delayed gratification. I’m basically a human-cat –we human-cats don’t do that.

Submission introduces mate número cinco. Kade isn’t a full dozen doughnuts, and since Bean can’t help but devour all the doughnuts she sees, she’s a-okay with the whacked-out lycan. But with Kade comes a lesson in how the lycan world really works. That might be more than she is ready for, considering Bean becomes a vampire juice box on the first go. Kade might be crazy, but Sabina must be losing her mind. The Stockholm Syndrome she suffers has her wanting more of the danger that comes with the secrets of her new life.

Title: Freak (Highborn Asylum #0.5)
Author: Elizabeth Dunlap
Genre: Paranormal Romance
My rating:
4 of 5 stars

Freak is a short little wind-up Prequel for the Highborn Asylum Series. Usually, I feel like there isn’t enough of a bite to chomp on with these novelettes, but this was a brilliant nosh.

Violet, known as Letty, is a patient at Highborn Asylum, where she can hear the walls hum and fellow patient Olivander follows her like an eerie shadow. I kept picturing Olivander as a Gerard Way-esque character, and then Guy is introduced, and I’m further sunk because I envisioned an Andy Black-like sort–you can see I have a type.

Highborn Asylum isn’t just any psychiatric facility; there is something very shady of the paranormal bent here, especially since they try to hold and control a witch with a harem. After all, they have to keep wiping Letty’s memory and telling her that the walls don’t make noises.

I can’t wait for this series. I’m hoping it lives up to this nosh.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advance copy of this book.

What is the worst betrayal? Some would say its betraying yourself, but for Barretta, it was having the three people she loved most at age thirteen hold her down, in front of the entire school, and humiliate her after telling her they loved her. That betrayal changed her whole life, and she was never the same after that. She left a week later and started over, started planning revenge.

Nine years later, it’s time to pay-up, and she’s loosey-goosey got plans to make them hurt so she can have closure and indeed start a new chapter. She’s enrolled in their college, knows their classes, has a key to their house, and knows where they will be.

Sounds creepy, and it is, but Barry/Bibi rationalizes a lot, and you start cheering for her success. Stockholm syndrome in book-form. By the time she starts falling for her bullies, and they for her, you are so confused about who you want to be mad at–and angry for–the story gets a little bogged down.

Axel is always a wiener; you won’t be rooting for him ever.

Now, this is what I wanted from Ravage. Lacey Carter Andersen shines with her newest Royal Fae Academy novel, Ruin!
