I’m a sucker for those mysterious new boy YA novels. I relish the potential of the new boy to come shake up the status quo and make things weird. Weird is always good! And I was that weird girl when I was a young adult who actually lived by the motto: “Weird is Good!” Perhaps that is why Pauline Creeden’s First Impression quickly won me over.

Makin’ The Love Monday – Stately Pleasures by Lucy Felthouse
Occasionally there are is a book where within it’s pages I find a character particularly alluring for the reason that he appeals to the rather dark and submissive part of me. Some little part of me wakes up and pays extra attention while I read the kinky doings and it seems to tune in a little more to his parts and look at him a little more keenly than all others in the novel. Stately Pleasures is a BDSM menage love story and the two male doms are both very attractive… but Lucy Felthouse clearly tapped into some cosmic collective unconscious that knew my buttons and how to push them when she created the hero Jeremy Davenport. Hello, Sir! Would you like to play master and servant?
Tongue Wagger – Relentless Liberation by L.J. Fine
You ever see a book and when you read the synopsis it smacks of a book you really loved and you have to have a bite of it because it must taste like that other book… after all it looks the same. I mean aren’t all veggie chilis just veggie chilis?
Yeah… and everyone is named Pete and we all come from Texas.
Relentless Liberation sounded very similar to Jamie McGuire’s Beautiful Disaster. Shy, drab, bookish Mina Roper goes with her gal pal to an underground boxing fight and she sees the muscular fineness of Tyler Serano who likes making other men hurt. Innocent and meek Mina knows Tyler is out of her league but it doesn’t stop her from feeding her addiction for ogling his guns as they deliver the damage every Tuesday, like clockwork. Even to you it sounds sorta, kinda, a little, maybe a bit similar, no?
Book Boyfriend Report – Woman On Fire by Fran Lee
If there are two things I like they are: arrogant men and when arrogant men get a cosmic kick in the pants. To say Fran Lee prepared a plate of intergalactic indulgence would be understating it. This little serving of spicy goodness is a sweet treat of tasty meat for any night of the week.
Tongue Wagger – Agency Rules – Never An Easy Day At The Office by Khalid Muhammad
I don’t generally go too far afield of the genres I self medicate with and it means I miss out on thousands of truly incredible novels. I think the truly ironic thing about my narrow reading choices is that when I watch Netflix–and this is very rarely done–all I ever watch is action movies, crime shows and true crime shows about murderers and people who get beefed. I have the scariest Joss Whedonesque morbid enjoyment of a good death than most people could even conceive. So it’s rather chuckle-able that when I am reading it’s all hot breathing, skin against skin, and flowers and chocolates.
When Khalid Muhammad sent me his message to be part of Word Slinger Project I was thirsty to read his book but unsure as to how I would feel about it… I shouldn’t have been. I should have been worried about how much money I’d be pouring into Amazon looking for another lethal Kamal.
Makin’ The Love Monday – Passion of Sleepy Hollow by Lexi Post
I’ve read a lot of adaptations of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow from many genres and I do have some favorites. One of the ones that actually stands out most in my heart was an unpublished short story I read by one of my college professors that had a disturbing horror lean that crossed 80’s slasher films with the legend and made the tale an urban blood bath. I think that one of the best homages a writer can give to a classic or well loved story is when they truly make it their own. To pull it out of the world it once lived in and recreate it as something that makes you see it in an entirely new light. Lexi Post doesn’t only give you a new taste of Sleepy Hollow and it’s legend with this novel she pretty much remaps your taste buds! This is an effing amazekittens read!
Tongue Wagger – Red Moon Rising by Elizabeth Kelly
If this were a TV show they would say this is the spin-off series from the original book Red Moon. Red Moon is about Avery and Tristan… let’s take just a moment to wipe our chins and settle our fluttering hearts and possibly fluttering loins at the very thought of Tristan Williams. I know that he is still giving me an afterglow even though it has been months since I got to read his sweaty doings. Phew!!! Goodness me, Elizabeth… how do you keep yourself from developing a huge ego knowing that you created such loveliness? If I were you I would just sit alone with my imaginary friends all day long and preen at my clever, naughty mind and the men it creates.
Any Day That Ends In YA – Locked by Eva Morgan
I had the realization a few weeks ago that it had been a few forevers ago since I had made it a habit to review Young Adult novels and upon this revelation came the realization that I really missed reading YA books. I also found that in the treasure trove of books on my Kindle I have a lot of YA books to read and review. I am going to make an attempt to read more. But as my first choice I had to pick Eva Morgan’s Locked because when I originally read the synopsis at the release of this novel the snarky, arrogant Sherlock Holmes’ cocky comments pretty much made me fall in love. So this one is for you Sherlock! (And you Eva…)
Feeling Peckish – Ruined By A Rake by Erin Knightley
Who doesn’t love a rake? I know for me good guys do finish last. I need a man who is unrepentant and likes naughty, dirty fun times. The more playful, inappropriate and charming the better. Nicholas Norton might be a couple years too soon for me to feel he is ripe enough to be plucked from the scoundrel tree but I can’t help but be tempted by his devil may care smirks and flippant remarks.
