Feeling Peckish – Love & Decay by Rachel Higginson

Love and DecayDisclaimer: I have not had my Walking Dead cherry popped yet. I know, crazy inn’it?! I am not one for TV. It’s a even a fact that David and I stopped having cable in 2006; all I watched back then was the cooking channel–he might not seem hot to you but I have a strange and inexplicable crush on Emeril Lagasse. I also watched music videos because I also had a crush on Adam Lazzara the lead singer of Taking Back Sunday. So my TV watching experience since that time is limited to Netflix. Then a few years ago I began watching English subbed Korean TV, moving me further and further from what is popular here. When I do watch Netflix, I watch True Crime TV about serial killers, murders and missing persons or I will watch crime TV like NCIS, Law & Order and Hannibal. I like it when people die I guess. Gruesome much? Long story short, I have missed all the zombie TV shows and movies since the original 80’s ones. OH! We saw World War Z, which gave me nightmares. “Scary Faces, Scary Faces!”

Book Boyfriend Report – Camille by Tess Oliver

camilleIt’s been a while since I did a Book Boyfriend Report and if there has ever been a more appropriate nominee for the award than Nathanial Strider I don’t think I’ve come across him. Tess Oliver’s Historical Young Adult Paranormal Romance (That is a poop ton of genre tags to attach to a novel) is one of the best books I have read in the new year. This read combines supernatural, early 19th century science, a good deal of gender suffrage, and a very romantic if not reluctant romance between two parties perfectly matched and ironically at odds and a devilishly charming hero who has been around the neighborhood and talked the knickers off all the wenches. Camille Kennecott and her guardian Dr. Bennett will have you raising an eyebrow, shaking your head and fearful for any other poor souls they get a bee in their bonnet to take under their care to do research upon. Let’s just be happy that Nathaniel was the one bit by this werewolf because I’m pretty sure someone less taken with Camille might have snapped and taken a taste of the pair of them and all their experimenting.

Berengaria Brown has just released her newest m/m Paranormal Romance from Evernight Publishing, ‘Would You Trust A Werewolf?’ This is a 34 page short story but if you have had the chance to be swept up in one of Berengaria’s stories you know that she doesn’t need to fill you up with starch and carbs when she can work you out with some palpitations and heavy breathing. Whoo, wolfboy! Is it warm in here?

Makin’ The Love Monday – Panther, Be Mine by Ju Dimello

pantherI somehow managed to over ARC my Ellora’s Cave book requests. I requested a book, Widow’s Walk by Genevieve Ash, which then missed getting transferred to my Kindle and I’m behind a book. So I’m going to have to fix this before Haunting Blackie by Laurann Dohner comes out and I have erotic book back up. That sounds like some sort of unpleasant, icky medical condition, it’s something I really need to take care of.

Book Boyfriend – Grimnirs by Ednah Walters

grimHave I mentioned lately how much I melt for a bad boy? No? Really? I’ve really fallen down on the job. A real dyed in the wool bad boy–unrepentant, shameless, sinful and worth every damn moment kind of bad boy is hard to come by. There are those guys that are good guys with a bad rap and there are those guys who get the rough reputation because the come from the school of hard knocks, but boys who proudly do the bad and make their own laws because everyone else’s aren’t worth the time, those bad boys are rare and not to share.

Weekend Pick Me Up – Hear No by Lizzy Ford

Camera 360 I won’t go into my normal Lizzy for President speech. If you aren’t going to vote for her by now that is too bad. I’ve been hard at work on my poop bomb gift bags for all those who fail me so we will just go forth with the knowledge that to the victors go the spoilers… and all the rest of you get a whole lot of poop in a bag.

I think I read this book in about three and half hours because I have an actual mental setting called, “Lizzy Land” and once I enter that setting nothing else registers. I’m not even sure if I blink or breathe. It might be a tantric or zen thing, all I know is once I reach Lizzyspace the real world drops away and for the length of the book I am inside the story. This one was an awesome one to witness, don’t be hatin’ but I saw a couple former angels and a kinda sexy lethal satanist. Eat your heart out. I know you’re jelly!

Makin’ the Love Monday – Charred Heart by Lizzy Ford

Camera 360I think I fell in love with Lizzy Ford about a chapter into Katie’s Hellion. I had downloaded the book for free (It’s still free–go NAO!) from Amazon after just finding out there were free books on Amazon in the early part of May, 2012. (Late Kindle bloomer). I bought every book she had after that and ate them up like they were chocolate and I needed a fix. I didn’t know what end was up from one book to the next as far as trying to pick a favorite character because I loved all of them… Rhyn, Decker and Darian eventually rose to the top. I guess I like the tortured anti-heroes the most.

Makin’ the Love Monday – True by Laurann Dohner

IMG_9548 Wow.
I have to say that again.
Wow.
I’ve reviewed enough Laurann Dohner books to have established my fangirl status and I’ve waxed poetic about New Species Series often enough to show my bias to it as well. When Laura from Ellora’s Cave emailed me the synopsis for this book as an ARC that was available for review I sent her a reply that said, “Please! Please! Please!” I might have fallen in love with her a little when she sent me the book. ~Yes, I am one of those women who love you for what you can give me and not for who you are. =P

Makin’ the Love Monday – Toxic by Belinda McBride

IMG_8572 November means it is NaNoWriMo time of year again and I have made my account and I have begun writing and I have nearly 12K words written on my story. It would be more but I haven’t had a chance to work on it since past Wednesday but I consider that a good start. I had a cray cray weekend with a kpop concert with one of my favorite idol bands, Infinite. (Dongwoo is a sexy beast and my heart beats a very pop song like throb for Sungyeol) Then visiting with friends who came to SoCal from points yonder. Even though I am a socially inept and broken spend-time-outside-of-the-house-type-person, I enjoyed every awkward moment. So as I am writing this, and this is Sunday evening, I am tired, sick and sore.

My bangin’ the boots book for this week is Truckee Wolves: Toxic by Belinda McBride, plug in the yadda, yadda about NetGalley letting me review this book for my kickin’ awesome opinion and rockin’ flair for words. Belinda McBride impressed me with this book. I had never read any of her titles before and I really enjoyed the way she took the step out of the box and let you know immediately that she wasn’t going to play the safe game and color within all the lines. I like authors who push the envelope and take that risk to give you a taste of the alternative lifestyles that not many other writers out there have had or would think to entertain at a buffet. I like tasting exotic dishes. It makes dishy things more dishy and what makes dirty dishes more dishy than making meals out of things that aren’t on the same menu your momma would get?
