Makin’ The Love Monday – Crimson Sins by Madeline Pryce

Crimson-Sins BannerWhen I was a Youth Gone Wild at the tender age of nineteen I hung with kids younger than me, very likely because I was just as dumb as I was smart. My immaturity and street smarts aligned me with troublemakers who were well aware that they had to fit in all their crime sprees before their eighteenth birthday. As for me, I’d already made bad choices a habit and decided I could make it a lifestyle or career. Where is this going? I remember going with one of my sixteen year old friends to a tattoo parlor on his birthday to get the band Biohazard’s logo on his arm. When I first read of Bastian’s mark I had this brief flashback to this dive tattoo parlor on Main St. in Dunmore, PA and this kid, who looked like a strange combination of Beavis and blind mole, getting inked up and I was hearing the State of the World Address softly playing in the wind. Then it all went away and I was like, “Mmmmm… Bastain can do what, how, and who? Magical colors in a rainbow of Skittles good feeling colors that feed him, when he is doing me? Where is this paranormal application for undead, dead, necro-somethin’ somethin’. yum yum, lovin’ nom noms? I am in like Flynn. I have no idea what that saying means, but I mean it in the spirit of the definition as I understand it.

Please hear me now. The world is a weird and wacky place and not everyone you meet is going to be perfect. Waiting for Mr. or Ms. Right could have you waiting forever; sometimes you need to lower your standards and go for the sorta dead guy that makes the effort to get to know you and provides for you. Now don’t go looking for a baby daddy because let’s face it girls: boys who have their own daddy issues are not going to be any help at all in helping you deal with yours. Not to mention how hard it’s going to be for you to be being mommy to your kid, acting as both mommy and daddy to your mate, while still being wife to him is so much roleplaying that you will be excited when you get to leave home for five minutes and become a stranger to everyone else. This is why so many women become addicted to soap operas and Supernatural. Those women are imagining life as it would be if reality reversed and their lives suddenly acquired some worthy meaning.

Bastian has some cookie jar trauma going on, but it’s all on the reverse side of reality and very much worthy of the time of any woman. He and his brothers grew up in a home where no one understood why there was a cookie jar because no one was allowed to have cookies.  Then one day they were given cookies filled with all the things that tempted the souls of the young, and all that tormented the soul. They learned that the reason for the cookie habitat was because it was actually the doorway to hell. Yes. The Hale’s life were tainted by gooey goodness and the taste of such sweet stuff was what made a dead man cry. They had to avoid cookies at all cost!

What’s more despairing that a world without cookies? Well, a world without cats, I guess, That is actually unimaginable.I need a moment to myself. The thought is too upsetting to continue.

This book is fantabulous. Morgan is an uber female. It’s one thing to have a talent, it’s another for you to bring out your dead. Morgan has the unfortunate skill to disturb herself, as well as those at peace and not so restful when she doesn’t mean to do so. She’s being romanced by some psycho leaving her creeper body part gifts. She is sooo over that! Furthermore you can slap her ass and call her Nancy when her former doctor shows up after years gone by to bring her on board a new endeavor… one he has plans to get her to join him whether consensual or through force. She has some serious anti-thoughts about this and when his dead sons show up and throwdown in support of her she might have found her own team against the bat shit crazy old goat/ Morgan can admit that this is all a bit out of hand.

Oddly enough once she has promoted herself to Bastian’s hands she is happy to remain in them. Together they are stronger, but also far more vulnerable to control of one another. Bastian and his brothers have been hiding from his father and avoiding him and his crazy endeavor to get power over them and control them, as he once had to get them to do his dirty work. Finding Morgan being abused by him is horrific, more so when he begins to realize that his feelings for her aren’t merely concern. Morgan’s a necromancer and Bastian’s undead. She has the ability to control him and use that control against him. Will she betray him with that power the way his father once had by imprisoning him with her mind?

Crimson-Sins-StrokeCrimson’s Sins Synopsis:

Created in Darkness and born of Death, three brothers carry a deadly secret.

One lethal enough to have the dead outnumber the living.

Necromancer. Biohazard. Zombie. The abomination inside Bastian Hale demanded constant payment—fresh blood. Without it, he’d rot from the inside out and become little more than a mindless monster. Some called him a living vampire, others considered him contaminated.

One woman would call him hers.

Morgan Cross never understood the innate necromancer power running through her veins or why ghosts and zombies sought to ruin her life. When someone’s deadly obsession throws her into Bastian’s arms, their pasts come back to haunt them and she must avoid the one thing she was born to do—claim him as hers. WARNINGS: violence, gore, mention of rape, torture, images of past abuse, spanking(less)
