Makin’ The Love Monday – Devil’s Game by Joanna Wylde

Devil's-GameLoving the bad boy is one of my worst habits. Actually having bad habits is one my worst habits. Bad boys are my most joyous guilty pleasure. I won’t sit here and dismiss something I relish. I love them mean, dangerous and dominant. I like a man who can tell me no and mean it. Give me limits and treat me like the kitten I am and I am yours. My men, I like it when they growl and have committed most of the seven deadly sins.

Joanna Wylde seems to know my type because she created Liam Blake. I’m pretty sure he was born of all the good things in life: coffee, chocolate, sex and inari. Liam, I bought you on Amazon and you are mine FOREVER! (insert maniacal laughter here)

It was not too long ago that I read Reaper’s Property. I lie. I just went and checked and it was months ago. When you lay around and feel like crap all the time the days begin to blur. I was meh on Horse and Marie. I really didn’t care about them either way. I read Reaper’s Legacy because I have an unfulfilled maternal yen and the synopsis mentioned babies. I LURVED Ruger and the story was amazekittens and when Hunter came to play I thought he was hotsauce and my taco need pazzazz. I was happy dancing around my house when I found out Hunter was getting his own book! Thanks, Joanna, I know you wrote this book just for me.

Emmy Lou Hayes is the sweetheart of the Reapers MC and she is paying for the position. Having her daddy be the president means that all her potential courtiers are shutdown right quick. The only long term romance Em has been able to carry on is with her battery operated boyfriend and I’m pretty sure that if her papa new just how familiar she was with the magic wand he’d shoot the shite out of that too. Em wants a man, but not any man will do. She wants someone who will stand up to her father and put her first. She won’t settle for no limp weinered roadrunner… Em wants a cool rider. I totally have Michelle Pfeiffer singing that in my head right now. You know, from Grease 2. Yeah, I know, no one watched that other than me.

For the last couple thousand years the Reapers and Devil’s Jacks have been rivals and there is no love lost and more blood spilled between the two clubs than anyone cares to measure or count. Times are a-changing and with the threat of the cartel that is moving north, putting pressure on the territories of both clubs, there are some in the Devil’s Jacks who feel it’s time to reach out and make peace. It’s the age to come together and forge a grand alliance before the crap hits the litter pan and all the bikers are looking at the cray cray cartel dudes who want to set them up, knock them down, and possibly pack their bodies full of drugs and use them as luggage.

Liam “Hunter” Blake is a scary mofo and he learned as a tadpole to bite first and bite deep. He clouded his soul to protect his little sister when they were kids and now as an adult he has let it be burned out for the MC that adopted him. Emmy was to be a job but if it’s possible for a heartless man to fall in love at first sight, Liam was beefed when he sets his peepers on the rival club’s princess. Now the dude who takes lives with cold indifference is having touchy feelies about a girl who isn’t afraid to pull a gun on him. To say their relationship is complicated is putting it delicately. The two of them are thirty-two flavors of one hot mess and totally lovely to watch blow up and melt down.

Em and Liam are hilarious together and there were times where I was laughing outloud so obnoxiously I chased cats away. They are so retarded for one another it’s painful. If Romeo and Juliet was this chuckles and snorts I might have been more excited about reading it fifty times in high school. One of the best conversations between the two of them about their feuding families is Liam saying to Emmy regarding Thanksgiving with her dad:

“I know it’s about seeing your family, but there could be larger implications. But if Burke’s okay with it, I can’t imagine anything more fun than spending a holiday in the home of the man who wants me dead. Like our own fuckin’ Hallmark movie, but with live ammo.”

This book rewinds a little to show what is happening behind the scenes in Reaper’s Legacy while at the same time giving you the details of the new story. This makes a lot of sense since Hunter is going through such a great deal of effort for the truce in Reaper’s Legacy knowing how he got to that point and understanding his motivations actually make this the best book of the series.

You really should read the other books in the series before you read this one because they are serialized as far as the overall arc goes and there is a long history between the Jacks and Reapers you need to understand that you wouldn’t get just reading this book. You would actually be fifty shades of shrug and blink. I recommend Nicole Jacquelyn’s The Aces Series for more MC yumminess… and for some hotcha gritty bad boy read with sizzly sexiness that is parallel biteable to some Liam Blake check out Chelle Bliss’ Throttle Me. RAWR!

Reaper’s Property Synopsis:

Marie doesn’t need a complication like Horse. The massive, tattooed, badass biker who shows up at her brother’s house one afternoon doesn’t agree. He wants Marie on his bike and in his bed. Now.

But Marie just left her abusive jerk of an ex-husband and she’s not looking for a new man. Especially one like Horse—she doesn’t know his real name or where he lives, she’s ninety percent certain he’s a criminal and that the “business” he talks with her brother isn’t website design. She needs him out of her life, which would be a snap if he’d just stop giving her mind-blowing orgasms.

Horse is part of the Reapers Motorcycle Club, and when he wants something, he takes it. What he wants is Marie, but she’s not interested in becoming “property of”.

Then her brother steals from the club. Marie can save him by giving Horse what he wants—at home, in public, on his bike… If she’s a very, very good girl, she’ll get lots more of those orgasms only he can offer, and he’ll let her brother live.
Maybe.

Reaper's LegacyReaper’s Legacy Synopsis:

Reaper’s Legacy is a raw and intensely erotic tale in Joanna Wylde’s Reapers Motorcycle Club series.

Eight years ago, Sophie gave her heart-and her virginity-to Zach Barrett on a night that couldn’t have been less romantic or more embarrassing. Zach’s step-brother, a steely-muscled, tattooed biker named Ruger, caught them in the act, getting a peep show of Sophie he’s never forgotten.

She may have lost her dignity that fateful night, but Sophie also gained something precious-her son Noah. Unfortunately, Zach’s a deadbeat dad, leaving Ruger to be Noah’s only male role model. When he discovers Sophie and his nephew living in near poverty, Ruger takes matters into his own hands-with the help of the Reapers Motorcycle Club-to give them a better life.

Living with outlaw bikers wasn’t Sophie’s plan for her son, but Ruger isn’t giving her a choice. He’ll be there for Noah, whether she wants him or not. But Sophie does want him, has always wanted him. Now she’ll learn that taking a biker to bed can get a girl dirty in every way.
