Do you ever read a book and get a happy about it because it’s within one of your fields of expertise or interests? I have certain books that are MUST READS for me. I never pass up a book about tattooed bad boys. It’s actually become an issue where I buy so many I will likely NEVER read them. I always buy books from authors from Northeastern Pennsylvania because it’s a shout out to my home region. Love New Orleans, so I pick up all the books with that as the locale. Asian heros… rare but totally induces Amazon binges. Medieval Christian Art or Latin slant because my Bachelor’s of Arts double major was Art History of Medieval Christian Times, and Roman Civilization and Western Studies.
Lastly! Photography. I have an Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts Photography. Fine Arts Photography means that I play around with alternative processing, mediums, filters, films and lens. I did some mixed media and did rather well winning in art shows and had a few private shows of my own. There is nothing I miss more than the smell of the darkroom. So self-medicating with romances with photographers works quite well. — I’ve never taken naked pictures of strangers, but I have paid stray kitties in tuna for some impromptu nature shots.
Weston Myers has a good eye for sleek planes, bountiful curves, luscious highlights and delicious shadows. His predilection for making the female body into carnal landscapes that are tempting to the eye, pleasing to the loins and promise trails that are open year round to lazy armchair travelers have made him immensely sought after. When he finds himself in a bind and needs a model, fast, for an upcoming gallery show, desperation drives him to place a classified ad. He can’t help but act a bit like a creeper when Lynn Graves contacts him saying she might be interested. What’s not to trust about a dude who places an ad in the paper asking for chicks to get nude in front of his camera. A guy who then shows up at your motel looking for you out of the blue. Yeah… no stalker, serial killer or plain old pervert has ever tried that one. –I’m joking Wes! You are a photographer, you and me are buds. I got you a fistbump, brother of my camera’s brother.
When you have a scary butt ex who stole your life from you and left you with cat-squat, it’s time to do desperate things. (I re-read this and realized that it could very easily be misread as “scary butt sex”. I should change it but that will really get your attention if you accidently read it wrong. And when you have scary butt sex that steals your life and leaves you with nothing that also might call for desperate times) The two jobs that Lynn Graves is working isn’t even beginning to take the polish off the debt she owes and she can’t afford free water, air or dirt. Just the other day a mosquito asked her for 50¢ for the blood donation it took from her. She’s in a world of hurt; with no place to go, no one to help her, she replies to the ad about nude modeling and meets Wes. Working with him will be one more insult to her pride, but she owes that effin’ mosquito and if he sends his thugs, good kittens only knows what she will look like when they are done with her.
Erotic Images is actually an awesome bit of sexy smut. I loved the pacing of the story, how Missy pieced out Lynn’s background in the story made her character very interesting and kept you tuned into the story. The sexual tension that existed due to the fact that Weston and Lynn had this work relationship that was very sexual was so well handled. You saw both the jadedness in Wes, the vulnerability in Lynn and the emotional trust that was being built by this incredibly intimate business arrangement they shared and how it was building a great foundation for something a lot more substantial. When Lynn’s past does catch up to her I felt that it was the perfect place for it to happen and at that point the domino effect is pure gold.
My disappointment came at the very end. I felt that the story was cut short and that it was so abruptly ended that pages were missing or perhaps an entire chapter was still needed. The resolution didn’t make sense to me because it goes against what Lynn is fighting for the entire book and adding that to the abrupt end it left me with a LOT of questions that were dangling there… maybe that mosquito has some answers.
Despite the unraveled ending, I did really love this book. I do recommend it. In a somewhat, kinda, but not at all way recommendation–You may want to check into Jill Elaine Hughes’ Domino Effect if you like this. Her book is a Mystery/Suspense and not so much an Erotic Romance, but it had a lot of instances where it had a similar feel in the heroine characters.
