Mmmm… Micah. You know if something’s good you make sure you keep going back for more. Micah is one of my favorite good things. I don’t know if there is an ‘enough’ point where he is concerned. I have a somethin’ somethin’ for Eli as well and if I could have a Micah and Eli bookend sammich with me as a gooey center I think that would be a moment in my fictional fantasy life that would need to be memorialized by some sort of mental photography. Sexual psychic 3-d imaging. MY GOD! Imagine if you could 3-d print your fav book boyfriend?! I would have a complete collection of Maddie Pryce’s Dark Series twig and berry cast!
Dark Secrets is a fanta-cat-iculously gimme-seconds book. I will fully disclose all the beef and potatoes before my opinion seems bought: I beta read this novel and Maddie is my confessor and knows all my sins; however she will tell you about the 3 stars I gave her on Claiming Ecstasy if you claim nepotism on my behalf. I do not play favorites. When I say I wub this book it’s because I do. I loved the first Ella and Micah tale… I was at about 3.8 stars on Hannah’s Pussy story and this one is dope, booze and murder–wait that is what the guy on tv just said about the daughter who killed her own father with her boyfriend’s help. This book is amazekittens!
Ella and Micah are settling into their new relationship and with new love comes all those horrible insecurities that make people act like they have emotionally transmitted diseases. Both lovers are feeling raw, itchy, sore, suspect and there is some burning when they get pissy. In the case of Ella and Micah there are fireballs bouncing around rooms and walls going up in flames. Things aren’t all rainbows and unicorn crap in the demon, vampire romance theater–it’s more pain-bows and bullshit.
In my review for Claiming Ecstasy I made the comment that Maddie never used the word ‘ravish’ and several other ridiculously overly sentimental swoon-y words. So she had to prove me wrong and use it in this book. Horrible cow–I mean, I totally understand.
…Careful not to hurt her despite the raging need I had to ravish.
You can’t trust anyone these days. I will try to get her to promise me not to use any of the other cliche romance words: ravaging, delight, enthrall, lovely. Since they all scream, “help, my great gramma actually wrote my book!” Please, woman, I will buy the best thesaurus available for you. Just not the words above!
Back on track from my petty nit-pickery; Dark Secrets is a great continuation of the story begun in Dark Cravings. The Hannah that you see from Dark Innocence only becomes more solid in this novel and really she is becoming one of my beloveds in this series (I like her tons more than Ella). There is tons and tons of Castro in Dark Secrets–I also love that because I like my men like I my coffee… dark and steamy with a side of caution. Maddie also introduced new characters in the final draft of this book she had mentioned sound boarding to me. I BIG CONE THREE (<3) the two Argent brothers! Nico, you must come home with me.
As for the story… I don’t want to spoil anything and because I beta read the book, then read the final, I have this weird caution that everything I know is a spoiler. I do know that I can say evil Ella is a breathtaking experience. I really liked her and I want to have her baby bloodsuckers. I kinda wish she could have been an actual villain in the series rather than the heroine because she was fun to read evil-fied. If I have any complaints it’s that she wasn’t evil long enough and the book is too short.
I recommend you read this series. It’s shaping into a beautifully full-bodied vintage with a taste of snarky female and untamed alpha DFWM male. The bouquet is rich with the scent of smexy beast and it’s-getting-hot-in-here. Trust me, you should never trust me, but still you need to get with the Dark Series. You can bet your well sculpted tushie that you will be looking for men to take you for walks in cemeteries in hopes of finding a mate like Micah!

Dark Secrets Excerpt:
I popped the button on his pants and trailed my tongue over the curve of his jaw. “Does it matter? Julian can wait.”
Micah growled and spun me to the dresser, lifting to set me on top. He slapped a palm against the wall above my head, caging me in. Escape, although I didn’t want it, would have been near impossible.
“Don’t even say his name. One day, I’m going to rip out his spinal cord.” The coarse golden hair dusting his jaw rasped against my cheek as he took my mouth in a kiss that sent us both spiraling.
The aggression lurking inside him coalesced. Demanding. Rough. He moved his hands over my body, exploring me as if we’d not already memorized every inch of each other earlier that day at the Vault. Mindless to anything except the male body in front of me, I was lost to all reason.
I threaded my fingers through his hair, holding him against me. I stroked my tongue against his, addicted to the taste of him. When I tilted my head to the side, our teeth clanked. Our embrace deepened as he dug his hands into the soft flesh at my hips and slid me close. He ground his body against mine and devoured me.
The demon lurking under the surface made me yearn for it to claim me. Never breaking the kiss, Micah moved the material covering my breast aside and cupped the tender weight. A sharp spike of need ran straight to my core. His hands were callused, the perfect texture moving across my sensitive nipple. The sudden need pulsing through me was going to tear me in half.
When he released my mouth, I gasped for breath. The sensations he caused had me clutching the corded muscles at his back. Featherlight, such a contrast to the frenzied need to mate surging between us, his lips moved across my cheek to my neck.
“I want your hair down.”
He tugged at a few things and within seconds, my painstakingly created up-do fell apart. He ran his hand through my curls. The gentle touch turned forceful. Forming a fist, he tugged, eliciting another needy moan when my head snapped to the side allowing the access he desired.
He nipped the scar on the side of my throat, the imprint of his teeth. I trembled from head to toe.
“Julian may get you tonight, but it’s me who you’ll smell like. My come inside your body. My marks on your flesh. I’ll make sure you remember the feel of my cock with every single step you take.”

Dark Cravings Excerpt:
Once I started kissing Micah, I couldn’t stop. Maybe it was because I was moderately drunk, or maybe it was because each time Micah pressed his mouth to mine, I lost a little bit more of myself.
I didn’t dare speak. Micah pulled out his wallet, threw some cash on the counter and pulled me out of the bar without looking back. We were barely out into the main section of the tunnel when Micah pushed me up against the cold stone wall. I pulled him close. He pressed his mouth to mine and I gave in to complete surrender. I had no idea how long we mingled there, lost in each other.
I was breathless and panting, still silent, when he pulled me from the wall and drew me through the maze of rooms to the exit. The electric buzz of the guitar bouncing off the walls faded. The constant push-pull of conversation disappeared. The rapid click-click of my heels against the ground became nonexistent.
Outside the rain fell like a heavy, pounding beat against the broken gravel road. If it was possible, the District looked even worse through the haze of rain. Darkened and bowed wood blocked the windows of nearby buildings. Rats scampered under awnings, clambering over each other to find shelter. At least half an inch of dirty mud and gravel-laden water spilled over the gutters and flooded the sidewalks.
The wind blew and the slant of pelting rain shifted sideways. None of it mattered. The second we stepped into the storm, we were drenched. We sprinted to the car, and each heavy thud of Micah’s boots against the ground sent up a spray of water to splatter my legs.
In the dark, the black silhouette of Micah’s car was little more than a shadow. The second we reached his car, his arms were around me. He lifted me off the ground, spun me in one fluid movement until my back was against the passenger door. Rain splattered off the roof, a heavy drum that matched our heartbeats.
His hands were wet and slippery against my cheeks. Pulling roughly, he tugged until our lips met, promising things I ached for. I clutched at his wet shirt, desperate to have him closer. I never wanted him to let me go. He slid his hands from my cheeks to my neck and then threaded his fingers through the tangle of my wet hair.
He used one hot, rough hand to palm my thigh. Heat from his touch spread and stopped the shivers of cold I hadn’t even noticed. Micah pulled, urged my leg around his hip. He slid his hand up, up, and oh, God yes, up. He cupped my sex, rubbed me with sure, deliberate strokes. I was on fire. Pleasure warred with the tightening of my inner muscles. I was on the verge of climax when, instead of sending me over, Micah gripped the crotch of my panties and ripped.
My world spun. That was the only way to describe what was happening, what Micah was doing to me. He pulled the tab on his zipper. The rasp of metal sent a wave of goose bumps across my arms.
Micah pulled his mouth from mine. I opened my eyes and pulled in breath after breath. Our gazes met, held.
“Tell me you want me,” he ordered.
“I want you.”
His cock slid along my opening.
“Do you want me to fuck you? Right now, right here?” he asked, never breaking eye contact.
“Yes.”
He thrust.

Dark Innocence Excerpt:
“You’re completely naked under that scrap of material?” He came up behind me and the heat of his body lined my back. He pressed his erection against my ass. “Are you trying to kill me, or is it just accidental?”
I looked up into the mirror and caught his gaze as he reached around to my front and palmed my thigh. His golden eyes were molten, the lids heavy. Even though he’d shaved, I could still see the slight discoloration of stubble where it grew thickest around his mouth and along his jaw. He scraped his hand up my leg, a slow tantalizing caress that stole my breath.
The soft material of my dress pushed up higher and higher. Goose bumps tightened my flesh and I had to close my eyes to block out the addictive hunger so plainly written on his face. He curved his hand in, knuckles brushing my slick curls. I sucked in a breath and parted my legs as he cupped my pussy. I was wet and dripping with arousal.
“So wet.” He nipped my ear.
My lids fluttered open.
“That’s it baby, look at me while I finger fuck you. Know who’s inside you, who’s going to make you scream.” He rubbed me slowly, the tips of his fingers teasing the slit of my sex when he pressed the heel of his palm against my clit.
I fought my moan. “The door’s still open.”
He rubbed harder, adjusted his stroke and pressed two fingers deep. In, out. “Then you better be quiet.” His voice was a sexy whispering rasp in my ear. His pace sped in a challenge he was sure to win.
“Oh god,” I panted.
“Do my fingers feel good in your pussy?”
I should have never admitted I liked it when he talked dirty to me.
“Yes.” I lifted my hand and threaded it behind his neck to hold him close.
“Do you want to come?”
I dug my fingers into his flesh and bit my lip to keep from crying out. “Yes.”
He grabbed the hand I had behind his neck and placed it palm down on the dresser. “Put both hands here and don’t move them. If you do, I’ll stop touching you.”
My pussy throbbed and I did as I was told…
