I have a soft spot for college romances… most of mine weren’t worthy of putting crayon to paper but I love hearing people tell me of their cray-cray years in college when they sowed their oats, hops, and every other agricultural metaphor in use to say they ran wild in the sheets! I had a special sort of wild since I was bipolar and stupid–it made me a brilliant artwork of self destruction. I was a beautiful place to visit but you had to be nucking futs to live with me. So I think I love New Adult Romances because now I’m medicated and I can read these and go, “Is that how it was supposed to go? Well, shit!”
L.A. Rose is a beautiful place to visit and I would like to live here! I’ve read the second book in this place, James Games and I have Icy Pretty Love which I haven’t read but I highly doubt will be anything less than delicious. Why is L.A. Rose a locale that is so fine? I am a self-medicator where books are concerned. I like books that pull me out of my head and take me somewhere with a little less mental and usually the ones that make me laugh get extra mileage. The start to finish L.A. Rose owns it with this book. It’s not a surface story where you are hearing something being told… she is an amazekittens storyteller that brings you into that warm, funny, awkward, smexy space where you aren’t flipping pages–you have melded a little with Cleo Reynolds and you are feeling her hesitations, hearing her whisper her reminders in your own ears, and your heart is pounding when she is talking out that next love scene to Adrian. L.A. Rose is just that damn good!
Cleo is the brain behind her roommates sexy-fun-times, well at least the ones featured in Marie’s romance novels. The “porn” Cleo writes is something especially special since she hasn’t actually experienced the “penetrating” depths of smutty love she is not known by name for penning. When her ink bottle runs dry Marie’s solution for filling it with ink is introducing a delicious slab of hunky inspiration that may squirt under pressure. These lessons in passion to rekindle Cleo’s dampened flames are giving her hot flashes, but she knows very well that model and Greek god, Adrian King, is someone she does not have the prerequisites for because he is way too hot for her to handle. There is also that thing where Marie dosed her with Xanax and Cleo almost molested his tongue during a course experiment… she also volunteered to be tribute for supertasting him, feeling him, and then following through on her threat–suggestion–going for the golden ring and tongue-twisting him during her class and in front of her professor. Of course Marie would pick this particular specimen to be her muse for pelvic juice making. And a good choice, since Cleo seems to be in a perpetual state of ovulation in Adrian’s presence.
I have as much love for this book as I do for James Games although I may be more in love with James Games heroine Fiona than I am in with Cleo but–both these books are keepers! You must read these books or garden gnomes will come and poop on your front step! Poop is awful when found anywhere! Read for the happiness of a poop appropriate world!
Adrian Lessons Synopsis:
If there’s one thing Cleo Reynolds knows, it’s that she’s not into Adrian King.
The son of a model with the looks to prove it, the experienced author of her school newspaper’s sex advice column, the cocky playboy with a hint of darkness. That Adrian King.
Nope. Nuh-uh. No way.
The problem is, he’s very into her.
After accidentally flashing him, and slightly-less-accidentally-but-still-totally-unintentionally making out with him in front of the whole class, she expects to be called crazy. Instead, he asks her out.
Cleo’s determined not to end up as another notch on his bedpost. Except she hasn’t done…you know…it in a while. (Read: ever.) And as a girl who pays her tuition by writing all the sex scenes in her roommate’s bestselling romance series, the lack of inspiration has served up a fat slice of writer’s block.
Until her roommate proposes that Cleo and Adrian act out all the steamy scenes in her book.
It’s just research. No feelings involved.
Nope. Nuh-uh.

The problem?
Fiona miiight have unknowingly banged his brains out last week.
Losing the competition may mean wearing a chicken suit to the sexiest Halloween costume contest, but she’d rather have feathers up her butt than let the truth out.

If they find out?

Adrian Lessons’ Excerpt:
My roommate looks between us, her eyes narrowed. “You two seem to be getting along much better today.”If by “getting along” she means “staring at each other with enough sexual tension to hoist the Titanic from the bottom of the sea” then yes.
“Remember, guys,” she says, settling back with her notebook and a bowl of popcorn I didn’t know she had. “Last time was more about the romance between the characters. Their first kiss. This is purely sexual.”
At the words “purely sexual”, a shiver grips my spine. I think Adrian might be similarly affected, because he hardens all over. And I mean all over.
“Come on, then,” I muster up the courage to say, fingering the lacy edge of my panties. “Inspire me.”
He actually growls, low in his throat, and suddenly he’s on top of me, his fingers digging into the couch cushions on either side of me, his knee pressed against my bare thigh. His face is inches from mine, and a slight, dark smile curves the edges of his lips.
My lungs go on vacation.
Meet L.A. Rose:
L.A Rose recently made it out of college alive and with an English degree. She’s a habitual beach bum and a not-exactly-recovered romance addict. She’s also plucked up the courage to become an indie author! ADRIAN LESSONS, a New Adult contemporary romance to be released on August 25th, is her first book – if you don’t count the ones she wrote before she finally came up with something publishable. (She prefers not to.)
