Trauma. PTSD. Coping mechanisms. Wolves–TRULY SEXY WOLVES. Academy romances. There are many things to unpack in Summer Semester: Omega Wolf Academy, so I need to figure out where to start.
Alexis, Lexi, to her friends, wants to have a fresh start, but there is one thing you can never outrun, and that is yourself. My girl is struggling with nightmares of her past. The worst is the darkness that haunts her even in the light. All she is looking for is normality—a few moments of being a plain Jane. But it’s not in the books for her. –at least not this book.
Summer Semester is a Why Choose romance with insta-attraction. That doesn’t detract from the story in any means, though. For the most part, Dimitri, Lucian, and Chase are strong characters who are unique from each other. But there was one part of the book where I wondered if she forgot which MMC she was writing for because the story felt like it should have belonged to another. What can you do, we readers work with what we are given with, amirite?
The world-building is well done in this book. I especially love the University aspect. I have heard complaints from people about Academy books being age restrictive and not applying to university age–I hesitate to remind those people that the Naval and Air Force ACADEMIES are collegiate and not high school-aged. So, yes, this is a New Adult novel–Mature YA, not YA, that takes place at the college level.
And yes, this character deals with PTSD, so there is a trigger alert here for those who have a history of abuse.
I recommend this for anyone who likes PRN RH romance. It really had the same relationship feel to me as Kaydence Snow’s Evelyn Maynard Trilogy, so if you liked that and shifters, this would be for you!
