Tongue Wagger – Beautifully Damaged by L.A. Fiore

BeautifullyThis book is great. But there are so many twists and turns and Dynasty moments that I sometimes wondered if Blake Carrington was going to come out at some point and suddenly Alexis would do away with Krystle and Trace would be Krystle’s brother and leave Ember for the Oil world.

This is a very deep and dark book. There were a slew of characters and the further into the story you go the more and more you find out just how they are all connected, and how totally effed up they all are–and they are all effed up. Trace is a very broken character and so many times in this book I feel like telling Ember, “Run, girl. Run away, far, far away. That is all kinds of that sort of boy who will kill you when he thinks for a second you may leave him and he will keep you in his freezer to keep you close by afterwards.” But then at the same time she would stalk him and I would shake my head and wonder ask Bunny, “Why is it he is happy she is stalking him? What is wrong with these people? Co-dependency is not a happy place, unless it’s you and me, right, Meow, Meow?” She agreed.

But the thing is all this brokeness seems to work. Somehow in a bad and unhealthy sort of way it starts shoring up all these holes. And as it goes… it makes for some harrowing and and eerily beautiful love story that makes you cry and hope for the best. As much as you want every to have love, there is something about the really messed up ones… you just pull for them a little bit more. I was really digging deep for Trace. And there must be something really wrong with me, Harry Potter screwed me up because at somepoint I started thinking that happy endings aren’t a given. I don’t believe you always get them. I worry a lot reading books that they just won’t happen. Tabitha Suzuma worked me over in Forbidden. I am an optimistic person in real life but if you give me a book I am convinced by the second chapter they will never get together and someone will more than likely die. No one kicks the can, I assure you.

But Trace he really really needed a lot of work.

I know a lot of people are making a lot of comparisons between Beautiful Disaster and Travis to this book and Trace. I have to say that that would be like comparing the movie Twister to an actual natural disaster. The amount of damage the two books deal with is incomparable. Beautiful Disaster is one of my most favorite books. I love Abby and Travis. This book is like wading through hell compared to them. I could read Beautiful Disaster once a month. This book is so full of heartache and pain I don’t think I could do it more than a few times a year. Read with discretion. This book is incredible but it will leave you with a heavy heart.

Beautifully Forgotten Synopsis:

Successful restaurateur Lucien Black’s blue-green eyes and unattainable attitude drive women wild. But his abandonment issues and criminal past have left him emotionally closed off. When a familiar face shows up for a job interview at his nightclub, the ache he has tried to forget tears at his heart—it’s the girl who once healed him…and then abandoned him.

Darcy MacBride still remembers Lucien’s delicate touch when they were both wildly in love teenagers. His gorgeous eyes had soothed her hurt after she’d been dumped off at the orphanage where Lucien lived. Darcy felt his jagged edges fit perfectly into her own, and she’d planned to spend the rest of her life with him—until a mysterious man warned her away. Now, fourteen years later, she’s ready to endure the torture of Lucien’s indifference and having him as her boss…just to be near him. But when it seems that they might finally take up where they left off, a devastating secret buried in their past threatens to tear them apart again.

L.A. Fiore’s story of smoldering love recaptures the tormented romance of Beautifully Damaged.
