Ali:<\/strong> Rina, I’m so excited that you were agreeable to a short interview. I know you have a lot going on with pre-release. 
Rina: My pleasure! Happy to be here.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali:<\/strong> This is the second novel in the Royal Elite School series; how happy are you with the reception of the first book in the trilogy Deviant King?\u00a0
Rina: To be honest, I was blown away by all the love Deviant King received. I was always a rebel who wrote what I connected with the most. I\u2019m so happy that many readers love my words, the characters, and the worlds I create. I can\u2019t find the words to describe how much that means to me and my creative process.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Ali:<\/strong> Social media makes it really easy to get immediate feedback. Does the speculation regarding Aiden and Elsa sometimes make it harder for you to stay on the path you have plotted out for the characters?
Rina: That\u2019s true. I get private messages and emails all the time with speculations about certain characters fates and different theories. I love them so much, but they don\u2019t influence my creative process. The three books were already plotted before I wrote the first book and the plot remains unchanged.
<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali:<\/strong> Speaking of social media: you use a street team to help get teasers and release information disseminated. How do grassroots publicity help authors?
Rina: Nothing makes me happier than seeing readers rave about my books and characters to other readers (sometimes a lot more passionately than I\u2019ll ever talk about my books). Those raving reviews and mind-blowing edits help authors get the word out.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali:<\/strong> As far as the creation process for a book goes, what are some of the things authors have on their plates three weeks before publishing?
Rina: For me, it\u2019s usually final beta reads, final proofreads, and minor changes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali:<\/strong> Fans often hear other readers say they are beta or ARC readers. What do these terms mean, and how different are these beta and ARC book copies from what the final release that is published?
Rina: In my case, beta readers get the slightly less polished version of the manuscript that hasn\u2019t gone through final edits. My betas tell me if the story works for them and what could be changed so it can become better. ARC readers get the 98% polished version. It\u2019s almost final and nothing changes plot-wise. However, between the ARC copy and the release, there\u2019s one final proofread and there could be minor changes to the wording.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali:<\/strong> I know you have a faithful following, with many readers obsessed with the story. What are some of the nicest compliments you’ve gotten, and what is the best way to thank you? (I’m leading here because so many people don’t realize how critical reviews are to authors — but if you have some other ideas\u2026)
Rina: All the reviews I\u2019ve seen made me feel so thankful and humbled to have such readers. The one that remained with me was something a reader said about how she completely forgot that she was reading a book. She was so engrossed and could see everything so vividly that she lived the journey in one sitting and almost cried when she had to go back to reality. That made me feel so fuzzy inside.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it\u2019s true that reviews are the best thing to thank an author. Talking about a book with book-loving friends is also an amazing way to thank an author.
<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali:<\/strong> I’m smarter than to ask for spoilers, but could you give a few short teasers as to what we can look forward to warming us up for Steel Princess?
Rina: Okay, so in Deviant King, there were a lot of questions asked and hinted at. There were also little clues thrown here and there. Steel Princess will answer almost all those questions. It\u2019ll reveal Elsa\u2019s past and set a new path for her relationship with Aiden. One thing\u2019s for sure, Steel Princess will be a lot more twisted and intense than Deviant King.
