\"PageflexI need a baby! Not that kitties aren’t doing it, but you can only self medicate with kittens and baby books for so long before you begin to build up a tolerance; the yen for the actual experience burns through. God, please put a baby in my belly; you did it for Mary, you can do it for me. I know, I know… she was your girl and all, but I swear I will ride a donkey for as long as you want and turn my apartment into a barn, just give me a baby! I am in a position where David and I can not make little Jung Joon Youngs and I am #sorrynotsorry\u00a0to be greedy and demanding but without your intervention the only thing that I am likely to give birth to is a novel. I love giving birth to books but babies are better to smell and nibble on.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth, the other half of my Doc Brown Naughty Librarian Book and Writing Club, popped out this baby when I wasn’t looking. #punsarefun I saw it come through on my Amazon alerts and had to send her a message to ask her if it was her because I didn’t think she would do me like that; have a baby and not tell me. #cheappunsarefun I got her to shoot me a copy of A Home For Lily\u00a0and I read it right away, because I have that whole thing I spoke about in the paragraph above, where I self medicate my need for a child with books where women get knocked up; vicarious pregnancy or pregnancy by proxy; I obviously need to up my meds.<\/p>\n

Lily has an asshat for a husband. He’s a class ‘A’ eff-tard and it’s okay that he’s the most miserable S.O.B in the world because in the first chapter Elizabeth kills him and Lily only has to struggle with the emotional forfeiture of dignity during her years spent with Barry and the PSTD from the accident in which he died for a little while. She is a really well put together woman. Well… she was almost shmushed by Barry’s\u00a0terribad passive aggressive driving that leaves her with a limpy-gimpy lame\u00a0gam so I guess there is that too, but Lily is actually over Barry long before Elizabeth writes him out of the book. I really feel like Lily should have talked to Elizabeth more and told her how over Barry she was because ma-girl\u00a0comes out of this boom crash\u00a0pretty mentally A-FREAKING-OTAY for someone who should be a bit scarred up all over in the head! This of course is the technical summary of the first chapter of the book. If the words I’m using are too formal please seek aid from Urban Dictionary or Google.<\/p>\n

Logan Anderson is one of the firefighters on scene of the accident and he first meets Lily when she is shmushed in the passenger seat and they have a big ol’ bonding moment. I actually had a big ol’ nerd moment because when Lily goes to thank Logan after\u00a0she has recovered there is this part where she says, “I came to say thank you for saving my life, Mr…?” and Logan says, “Anderson. Logan Anderson.” How many people have been ruined for life by The Matrix and cannot hear Mr. Anderson\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>and not hear Hugo Weaving saying it. Thanks, Hugo Weaving for your narration of Logan and Lily meeting. It added a certain depth and suspense it wouldn’t have had if I had not seen The Matrix.<\/p>\n

Now this book is a contemporary, roasted marshmallow erotic romance. I’ve read many, many Elizabeth books now and she is capable of all different heat levels of makin’ the love. I would put this at an even four on the Elizabeth Kelly Hot Kitten Scale of Hot Love Makin’. After Barry kicks the cat carrier, Elizabeth finds that his dickishness truly knew no bounds and she finds herself at the mercy of his parents. Under the threat of being homeless at the end of her pregnancy and losing her child to his equally dickish parents, Lily is at the end of rope, and it ain’t no joke. When she tracks Logan (Mr.) Anderson down to thank him for saving her life and finds he needs a nanny she thinks her opportunity has knocked. Let’s be real, opportunity has to be on Lil’s side because Karma, Fate, God have been giving her the big one right in the cornhole.<\/p>\n

Logan’s dealing with his traumatized daughter Hazel who has been mute since she witnessed her mother’s death six months earlier; his luck with nanny’s has been anything but. He’s really looking for someone who can reach Hazel and he worries that no one can. When Lily comes to meet Hazel, she and the little sugar cookie of silence seem to connect, but then Logan\u00a0sees Lily’s\u00a0got a bun in her oven. Logan’s fear\u00a0is that Lily’s baking concerns will be solely for her baking buns and his sugar cookie of silence will be forgotten when the bun is baked.\u00a0Taking a chance on a short order baker with Hazel being so vulnerable and having just lost her own mother isn’t something he wants to do but something about Lily and Hazel together touches his feelies.<\/p>\n

After a while Logan and Lily are touching all sorts of one another’s things and\u00a0feelies, there are lines being crossed, all sorts of blurry, foggy ‘wait-one-second’ stuff, and ‘oh-goodness-they-shouldn’t-do-that’ happening. You will like it. I liked it. I loved it. I want to have a baby! BABIES EVERYWHERE! I do have to say that this is one of those books that is three or fours steps up from a classy Jerry Springer, minus the best friends, sisters and fiancees sleeping with one another, yet equally facepalm-y in the dramatic way. I know it makes me want to keep my nonexistent weiner in my pants around my nonexistent irresistible best friend nanny. Please keep in mind that I love romances that make me cheer for lovers who ride the line of trainwreck relationships. It really is not okay for you to do ANY of what is in this book to a child if you are not planning to keep the child for four, five, six and five thousand forevers. Don’t worry Hazel, I will adopt you if Logan (Mr.) Anderson and Lily eff this up!<\/p>\n

Logan moved quietly through the dark house. He had to work at six tomorrow and it was already after midnight. He should have been in bed hours ago but he had felt restless and jumpy and hadn’t bothered to even try sleeping.<\/p>\n

He climbed the stairs and peered curiously at the bathroom door. Although it was late, the bathroom light was on and he could hear Lily’s soft muttering. There was a loud banging noise that made him jump and he knocked softly on the door.<\/p>\n

“Lily? Are you okay? Let me in.”<\/p>\n

“I’m fine. It’s open.” She snapped.<\/p>\n

He opened the door. Lily was on her hands and knees with her upper half wedged into the cupboard below the sink. Various bathroom items were piled around her legs and he stared with more than a little passing interest at her upturned ass. She was wearing just a long tshirt and it had risen up until he could see her ass clad in pale pink panties. His cock twitched he pulled his shorts away from his crotch before clearing his throat.<\/p>\n

“What are you doing?”<\/p>\n

“I’m looking for a goddamn heating pad.” Her voice was muffled but he could hear the irritation in it. “Do you not have one?”<\/p>\n

“I don’t think so.”<\/p>\n

She made a loud snort of anger and tried to wiggle free of the cupboard.<\/p>\n

“Shit.”<\/p>\n

He crouched beside her. “What?”<\/p>\n

“I’m stuck.”<\/p>\n

A wide grin crossed his face and he tamped down the laughter that was starting when her muffled voice said, “So help me God, if you laugh I will shove this curling iron up your ass.”<\/p>\n

“I’m not laughing.” He said quickly.<\/p>\n

“I can hear it in your voice, Logan Anderson.” She said grouchily. “Are you going to get me out of here or not?”<\/p>\n

He put his hand on her hips, eyeing her ass one final time, before pulling firmly. She popped out, cussing lightly and breathing heavily, and glared at him before muttering a thank you.<\/p>\n

“You’re welcome.”<\/p>\n

She shoved her shirt down, for once not blushing, and grabbed the top of the counter. She hesitated and then gave him an angry look. “Are you going to just stand there or help me up?”<\/p>\n

“Sorry.” He stood and then hooked his hands into her armpits and lifted her to her feet. She winced and grabbed her back before sighing.<\/p>\n
