I want to give this an extra star for Demon the Cat, but I can’t honestly justify the indulgence–this is a solid three-star book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emily Baker’s life suuucks. She is one pizza delivery away from the end of a shift, and wouldn’t you know there is a cat out there just waiting to eff up her entire life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Long, hard days at a veterinary practice aren’t the only reason Logan Price is grumpy; that quality is part of his disposition. Having a near-miss collision with a delivery scooter that almost wipes out a kitty cat is the last straw for today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet after the altercation, Logan has no idea why the wrong-doer is turning him on, why he’s taking her back to his clinic with the cat, why he’s making the near cat killer a cat owner, or why he’s demanding she and the cat come back the following day. It has something to do with pheromones, or possibly he’s thinking with the wrong body part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These two are an odd couple, and they are cute together. Emily is very whacky to Logan’s straight guy. Demon is further whacky to both of them. Oops, My Bad is a cute Rom-Com that has many chuckles. But one of the things it lacks is steam in its steamy parts. Those parts are rushed and read awkwardly. It feels like they are supposed to be dirty, but they are just dirty words instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall I did enjoy this read even though it has some clunky faults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh. My. God.
It\u2019s taken twenty-two years, but He finally heard my prayers.
He\u2019s here! Superman is here!
Okay, maybe I hit my head and didn\u2019t realize it. I must have hit it really hard because I could swear that standing before me is the most beautiful man I\u2019ve ever seen. Besides Superman, of course. This guy\u2019s hotter than all the Marvel and DC superheroes put together.
\u201cMy hero,\u201d I whisper as tears begin to fill my eyes and my heart rate accelerates.
\u201cPoor kitten, are you okay?\u201d
\u201cWhat?\u201d I guess I don\u2019t mind that he\u2019s already using a pet name for me, but isn\u2019t it a little soon? I mean, we barely know each other.
His large green eyes rest on mine and he runs a hand through his thick dark-blond hair. A small wrinkle appears in the middle of his forehead and his eyebrows draw together.
Is he worried about me? My heart beats wildly as a dumb smile appears on my face.
I can\u2019t quite decipher the expression on his face, though. Is it fear? Concern? I blink a few more times, trying to focus. Then the truth dawns on me. He\u2019s not concerned about me, he\u2019s really pissed off at me. Superman\u00a0.\u00a0.\u00a0.\u00a0I think sadly.
\u201cWhat the hell?\u201d he barks suddenly. His voice is deep and masculine, one of those voices that makes you melt as soon as you hear it. \u201cBe more careful next time!\u201d
My eyebrows rise so high they collide with my hairline. \u201cAre you talking to me?\u201d I stammer, looking around like an idiot as if someone else might be there. Of course there\u2019s no one. It\u2019s just him, me, and the stupid cat. The cat that at this precise instant is rubbing itself against the ankles of my hero. What the fuck?
I watch as he bends over and tenderly gathers up the little monster in his big, capable hands. I\u2019ve never hated anyone as much as I hate that cat right now. He strokes it, then lifts it up and examines it carefully. The crease in his forehead deepens.
Taking a deep breath, he holds the cat tighter, turns around, and heads back to his car.
\u201cYou can\u2019t just leave me here!\u201d I yell after him. He ignores me. My tears are threatening to spill over now. He opens the gate of his SUV and carefully puts the cat inside.
Then I hear him fiddling around with something. I close my eyes. What\u2019s the point of looking? I just lost my Superman to a cat.
\u201cCan you get up?\u201d His voice is severe. I blink and see him standing in front of me again. So now he\u2019s finally worrying about my health. I glower at him, cross my arms, and nod. \u201cWell, come on, then.\u201d My jaw drops again. \u201cHurry!\u201d he barks over his shoulder as he heads toward his car.
\u201cNo!\u201d
He stops, one foot in midair. \u201cNo?\u201d He turns back toward me. It\u2019s clear he wasn\u2019t expecting that answer. His frown deepens. \u201cWould you prefer that I call the police?\u201d he says challengingly. At the word police the blood freezes in my veins.
\u201cUm, what?\u201d I stammer, hoping I\u2019ve heard wrong.
\u201cI\u2019m sure they\u2019ll have something to say about the fact that you were speeding and running red lights. Oh, and that you hit a poor animal on the street.\u201d
\u201cI didn\u2019t hit him!\u201d I reply indignantly.
He shakes his head and exhales an impatient sigh. \u201cYou\u2019re either coming with me or I\u2019m calling the police.\u201d
For a few minutes we engage in a Mexican standoff. I feel like I\u2019m confronting one of those alpha males I\u2019ve read about in my romance novels. I know that the first one to look away will be the loser. I have to be strong.
He raises an eyebrow in a silent challenge. He\u2019s clearly telling me I\u2019ve already lost.
The fact that I suddenly sneeze, getting snot on the collar of my uniform shirt\u2014as if I hadn\u2019t humiliated myself enough already\u2014proves that it\u2019s not my fault I can\u2019t win. The universe is clearly against me.
Heaving a defeated sigh, I wipe myself clean\u2014so elegantly\u2014using the sleeve of my jacket. I see him wrinkle his nose in disgust, then look away. He turns around again and heads for the car. \u201cLet\u2019s go,\u201d he orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
